Approach to the mind and conveyance of tafsil period of the Salafism: İbn Taimiyya case

The period when Islam was practiced in its most original form was during the lifetime of Hz. Muhammad (s.a.v.). During this period, Hz. Muhammad (s.a.v.) himself was the authority on religious matters. After his passing, this role was assumed by the Sahabah. Although some disputes arose toward the later period of the Hz. Muhammad (s.a.v.), the first major conflict that threatened the unity of the Islamic community began with the selection of a caliph. Following the martyrdom of Hz. Osman (r.a.), disagreements began to expand into theological matters. As Islam spread across various cultures and absorbed influences from different civilizations, alongside the growth of translation activities, these disputes became even more pronounced. This dynamic eventually led to the formation of distinct theological and jurisprudential schools. Those who chose not to align with these schools instead embraced the views of the Sahabah and the Tabi'un, shaping their beliefs accordingly and ultimately coming together under the framework of Salafism. Ibn Taymiyyah, a prominent Islamic scholar, played a crucial role in systematizing the Salafi school of thought and expanding the foundational knowledge passed down by earlier Salafi scholars. His contributions to various fields of Islamic culture and civilization were significant, particularly in the discipline of Kalam, where he addressed the relationship between reason and revelation. During this time, Ibn Taymiyyah authored his work Der'u ta'âruzi'l-akl ve'n-nakl as a response to the principle of kânûn-i küllî, introduced by Fahreddin er-Râzî and his followers. This principle asserted that in situations where reason and revelation appear to conflict, reason should take precedence, and revelation should be interpreted in alignment with rationality. In his book, Ibn Taymiyyah contended that sound reason and authentic revelation are fundamentally compatible and cannot genuinely contradict each other, supporting his argument with a range of justifications.
