Modeling of floodwave occured the tahtali dam failure

In the first place dams are water structures that supply drinking water, supply water for agriculture and industry, protection from flood and for generating electrical energy. Although dams are fairly safe, exceeding water over the dam, improper design of spillway, sitting of the dam crest, such reasons can lead to dam failure. By modeling the flooding occur as a result of a dam failure, the damage that may occur can reduce to minimum by measures. In the past, the dam demolition work is assumed that the dam was suddenly destroyed. The reason for this was that it was mathematically simple, this approach was the right approach for reinforced concrete arch dam. However, recent studies is assumed as partial and gradual dam failure. The program used to analyze the collapse of Tahtalı Dam is FLOW-3D. FLOW-3D is a fluids mechanics software that modeling two and three dimensional of dynamic behavior of liquids and gases. FLOW-3D is an ideal program for solving free surface flow problems using finite volume method. The hydraulic problems of design problems are taken at an obtuse angle. Modeling of hydro power plants, design of fish passage, scour and deposition analysis, air entrainment values are samples of a wide angle that it deals with. In project scope, Wave movement are created in FLOW-3D's own drawings and has been adapted to solve the problem and on the model current limits are determined, fluid defined by boundary conditions, after entering the appropriate physical properties, by running simulation of the program, obtained results were examined.
