Examining the effect of teaching the subject of integers with the help of cartoons on student success

Mathematics, which has been present in children's lives from early childhood, is one of the basic courses in many programs from first grade of primary school to higher education. Mathematics develops our mental skills, increases our thinking ability and improves our analytical thinking ability. Mathematics, which helps to develop skills in various areas not only academically but also in daily life, is of great importance for the individual and society both in daily life and educational life. For this reason, studies can be conducted to ensure that students' perspectives are positive towards a course that occupies such an important place in human life, and this can contribute to both the individual's academic and daily life. Ensuring that students develop a positive attitude towards mathematics especially in preschool, primary school and secondary school periods can reduce the possibility of students having a negative attitude towards mathematics in the later periods. For this reason, mathematics can be taught in a way that is both entertaining and endearing through cartoons that preschool and primary school students love to watch. In this study, it was aimed to examine the effect of teaching the subject of integers in the 6th grade with the help of cartoons on student success and to obtain the students' opinions on this subject. The study used a variation design, which is a mixed method research design. As a result of the study, it was found that the use of cartoons; It has been concluded that it increases the academic success of the students, increases the permanence of the knowledge, changes the attitudes of the students towards the mathematics course in a positive way, increases their interest and motivation in the course, and students want to teach their lessons with cartoons.
