Abstract (EN)
The aim of this study was to investigate the effects of impregnation with Tanalith-E on the technological properties of some woods. For this purpose, the test samples prepared from Oriental beech (Fagus orientalis Lipsky), European oak (Quercus petraea Liebl.), Black walnut (Junglans nigra Lipsky), Lombardy poplar (Populus nigra Lipsky), Ash (Fraxinus exelsior Lipsky) and Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris Lipsky) wood materials - that are of common use in the forest products industry of TURKEY - according to TS 345, were treated with Tanalith-E by the vacuum impregnation process of ASTM D 1413 standards and directions of the manufacturer. After impregnation, each sample was tested for observation of retention amount, air-density (TS 2472), bending strengths (TS 2474), modulus of elasticity in bending (TS 2478), compression strengths (TS 2595). Some technological properties of wood un-impregnated according to impregnated wood materials, the compression strengths in the poplar wood to 8.17%, the bending strengths in Oriental beech to 6.83%, 5.12% in the ash, 5.93% in the Scots pine, the elasticity module values to 7.15% in the oak and ash, at a rate of 6.58% in the higher were found. Accordingly, It can be said that the Tanalith-E impregnation material affect the compression strength, the bending strength, elasticity module of wood. As a result, the highest values of compression strengths, bending strengths and modulus of elasticity in bending were obtained in Oriental beech and ash woods impregnated with Tanalith-E, whereas the lowest values were obtained in the Lombardy poplar wood. Accordingly, where the use of modules in place was the compression strengths, bending strengths and modules of elasticity in bending is important, Oriental beech impregnated with Tanalith-E and ash woods may be preferred.
