Tanzania energy diplomacy and foreign investment promotion: An analysis of energy sector

Tanzania has been improving itself to move away from poverty that has been dragging the country since independence. As a step forward, it has been growing its economy to accelerate its efforts toward developments. Also, its population has been growing fast and indeed has provided new challenges. Its energy sector has been facing challenges due to the fact that hasn't been producing enough compared to incoming demands. Scholars have shown that issues like no diversification of energy sources, rapid economic growth, and a high population have made it nearly impossible for the energy sector to provide enough power. The government has done some efforts as the first initiatives to reduce the problem but to some limitations, it had to include energy diplomacy as the joint initiative to help solve the problem since alone the efforts have done hasn't been helping that much. To produce the results for this paper, data collected from different sources were analyzed through document analysis (review) method to evaluate the energy problem and the energy diplomacy efforts which lead to investment promotions in the sector. For this both qualitative and quantitative methods well incorporated in order to give more clear information on the study. The results have shown that it's true that the country is facing energy problems with the causes being the ones identified in the study. In spite, the efforts from the government yet energy problem have proven to be persisting and it's where energy diplomacy comes in s the assistance to help the issues of energy and its relations by providing investments (financially), technology support, and knowledge transfer. The paper concludes with recommendations to the government to do more in the field of energy diplomacy and create more relations so as to explore more potential in its sector and brings more opportunities for investment.
