Abstract (EN)
Ottoman State introduced a series of reforms in order to strengthen the mechanism of state and protect integrity of state at 19th century. This process was changing not only functioning of the mechanism of state but also the values, taste and appreciation of society. The dresses, types of entertainment, fashion shops which belong to European and so many fashion factors of Western origin began to penetrate the Ottoman society. In general, common admiration of society changed at this process is expressed as the Westernization. When daily life of the people of the Ottoman passes through house, neighborhood, marketplace and mosque, this structure added many European spaces. Consequently speacially at center the common pleasure and appreciation left in the course of time its place to European human type that have Western life styles and the idea with Turkish human style that think protection of national morality. When the first applied Europe's cultural characteristics which already identify oneself with political and economic power to the life of themselves, the second one was criticizing tendency to Europe which is not to be appropriate to essence of Turkish-Islamic culture. This state at the same time formed starting point of departure form civilization circle in which Ottoman society for years to the other civilization circle and discussions which would see after this.No doubt Administrative reforms was a period which Turkish community faced all aspects of Westernization and harbour all the pains of modernization process which lasted with change and transformation movements for a long time.Keywords: Westernization, Modernization, Tanzimat, Fashion
