Abstract (EN)

Since ancient times, health has taken place in a life value in which people have been struggling everywhere and at all times in order to survive. In almost every part of the world, individuals, societies and civilizations should make the best use of health care in order to maintain their existence in a healthy way. Epidemics have left great and lasting traces throughout the history of people, nations and states. In the 19th century, epidemics such as cholera, plague and smallpoxspread to almost every part of Anatolia and caused deep destructions. Because of this, many people lost their lives. In this study, as one of the negative effects of the wars that took place in the Ottoman Empire in the 19th century, epidemic diseases were mentioned. The importance of themeasures taken by the state against the diseases as a result of the innovations and changes introduced by the Tanzimat was emphasized in terms of health.
