Abstract (EN)
The declaration of Admistrative Reforms in 1839 is a breaking point in our political, social and cultural life. The main aim of this declaration- to apply the developments in Western civilazation to our contry and move along Ottoman Empire by satisfying the demands of the community about modernization including the minorities- redesigned life. There became fundamental differences in all parts of life such as families, fashion, Daily language, entartainment and education. It's determined that Turkish education system cahnged in two ways after the declaration. It's known that Islamic knowledge has been taught in children's schools and madrasahs until this period. But after than positive science became more important. Also teaching foreign language came to the top of educational priorities. French gained much mıre importance instead of Arabic and Persian languages except some fields. Anaother dimension of educational evulution occurs in methods of children's discipline. The young people raised as respectfuk, conservative and dignified individuals behave differently after this period. Being indigent about their personal freedom, disrespect, inappropirate habits, egoism and prodigality are some of these different behaviours. It's obvious that the foreign tutors who became an" obligation" for Ottoman mansion life, had the leading role in all these alternations in education. Female and male governesses coming from abroad with several reasons, designed both house life and social life. Nature of this design depends on the variables like knowladge, ethics and financial sensibilities of these governesses. When we take a close look at novels and short stories published during this period, we can clearly observe the part of foreign educators in community's evolution from the eyes of authors who are careful members of society, just like proof for Stendhal's famous phrase: " Novel is a mirror which shows the Street."
