Tarih-i Humûlî (Translation and evaluation)

Tarih-i Humulî (History of Khumuli), one of the most important sources of the Khanate of Bukhara, the oldest and largest one among the Turkestan Khanates, was written by the historian who was nicknamed Abu'l-Fuzulî between 1836-1847. This work is important in terms of describing the invasion of Turkistan by the great Turkish ruler Nadir Shah in 1740 and a period when the disorder was at the highest level in the Khanate of Bukhara and the order and stability were seriously disturbed. Tarih-i Humulî focused on the history of the Khanate of Bukhara between 1740 and 1830. The value, details and differences of the source were revealed by comparing it with the information provided by the research works and other main sources. In this study, Tarih-i Humulî, which has not investigated yet in the field of history in Turkey and describes the events that took place between the years of 1740-1830, was translated from Persian language to Turkish. Within the framework of the events mentioned in this work, an evaluation has been made of the Manghit period of the Khanate of Bukhara. The original Persian manuscript of the chronicle was published in 2013 with a printed Persian translation by Ghulom Kerimiy and Iroda Qayumova. This Persian version of the work has been placed at the end of the thesis in photocopy form. The translation into Turkish and its evaluation was conducted framework within which we reached by the style and method of historical research subjected to internal and external criticism. While translating the work from Persian to Turkish, we tried to translate Persian poems as simply as possible. We put the verses appropriately and shortened the titles of rulers that were mentioned at length. We believe that with the translation of this work, interest in period of research will increase.
