Abstract (EN)
The world of literature has always existed intertwined with real life. The artist, who performs the act of writing, reflects the period and events he/she lived through in his works by filtering them. For this reason, fiction works are not created independently from reality. However, not every work reflects objective reality as it is. This difference in reflecting reality stems from the artist's way of perceiving the world and his/her stylistic features. Fictional reality is the world created by the author with subjective thoughts. Historical reality is the birth point of events that inspire the author in fiction. In other words, it is the real-life counterpart of the events and people that are the subject of fictional works. The relationship between historical reality and fictional reality enables the text to create a consistent structure within itself. In this context, in our study, in Yervant Odyan's work named Abdulhamid and Sherlock Holmes, how historical reality is handled in the fictional world is examined in terms of fictional elements. The work, which brings together the fictional character Sherlock Holmes, a fictional character created by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and the historical personality Sultan Abdulhamid, is translated in Latin in 2011 with the TÜBİTAK research project titled Historical Development of Detective Novel in Turkish Literature 1884-1928. The novel reflects the events that took place during the proclamation of the II Constitutional Monarchy in a chronological way. Historical realities were used in the fiction of the work. The turbulent events of the Sultan Abdulhamid Period and the activities of the societies on the way to the proclamation of the Constitutional Monarchy are explained in detail in the novel. The death of Abdulaziz and the trial of Mithat Pasha are also mentioned through the characters. Photographs, letters and telegrams used in the novel; It is one of the important elements used in the stage of giving reality. Apart from historical facts, there are historical personalities used in addition to the main character of the novel: Ebülhüda Efendi, Musurus Pasha, Talat Pasha, Fehim Pasha, Necib Melhame Pasha are a few of them. In our study, firstly, the concepts of historical reality and fictional reality were given, and then the relationship between history and novel was discussed in general terms. In the second part of our review, under the title of An Analysis of Abdulhamid and Sherlock Holmes Novel from the Perspective of Historical Reality and Fictional Reality; The fictional structure of the novel has been tried to be revealed in the context of the person, event, place, point of view and time.
