Evaluation on revitalization policies of historical toxn centers, the case of İzmir Kemeraltı

However these regions are negatively affected by developments that ocur in cities and over time they become declined areas housing many problems. For these reasons, many revitalization projects have been carried out both in Europe and in our city, based on centers of metropolitans, in the last twenty years.Within the scope of the revitalization projects lies; the historical patterns on urban transformation projects, rehabilitation and rearrangement of the public locations, squares, streets, facades of the historic structures such as pedestrianisation. All of which can serve multiple applications.Kemeraltı, the historic city of Izmir has subsisted as a trading center of the region for ages. In recent years, the area has witnessed multiple attempts for revival. Within the scope of this study, many possible applications were examined and evaluated that can contribute to the revitalization of this Historic City Center.
