Abstract (EN)
There is no detailed information about the background of many artistic events organized today. As it is known, art integrates with the space and becomes a single structure. Because the place where art is constructed is a work in itself. In this context, the relationship between the spaces where artistic activities are exhibited and the works of art is of great importance. The concepts of "art" and "space", which contain each other and are in a deep relationship with each other, need to be examined in detail. Istanbul Biennials, where many artists and art lovers from around the world come together and interact, have an important place in the development of contemporary art. Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts since 1987, Istanbul Biennials aim to establish a different bond with art lovers for years, not only in terms of the works exhibited, but also in terms of the venues where the works are exhibited. In the contemporary art world, where art and artists cannot be interpreted independently of space, Istanbul Biennials appear as an important event where spatial dynamics are carried out effectively. This thesis will examine in detail the effects of artistic events held within the scope of Istanbul Biennials on Istanbul's urban texture, historical architecture, the importance of interior spaces and the art-space relationship, and will focus on issues such as spatial difficulties encountered in biennials, exhibition problems and problems in visitor experience.
