In this research, it is aimed to examine "the subject of etiquette from a historical perspective with an educational dimension." In the research, organized as a case study within the scope of qualitative research, document analysis and oral history designs were used. Data were collected through document analysis and semi-structured interview form; content and discourse analysis methods were used to analyze the documents and interviews. The study analyzes etiquette books, Journals of Notifications, Decisions of the Board of Education and Discipline, National Education Councils, curricula and textbooks from the Republican Era between 1939 and 1980 and is based on interviews with seven women graduates of a secondary education institution operating in this period. The findings revealed extensive coverage of etiquette rules in etiquette books and official documents. The interview results revealed that etiquette education is formed by the influence of family, school, courses, culture and teachers. It was found that following the rules of etiquette in the socialization process has a positive effect on social status. It was also concluded that manners play an important role in the context of raising qualified citizens and creating a civilized society.
