Abstract (EN)
One day workshops, where the participants produce by taking the knowledge of a certain material and production technique are becoming increasingly common. People attend these workshops to spend their free time and socialize. The workshop process, which can be summarized as the participants producing an object in line with the instructor's guidance, creates an environment for the transfer of production experience and design knowledge. One day workshops, which are an informal production knowledge learning environment, are open to everyone regardless of their knowledge and skill level regarding the production technique. It is significant for the democratization of design that design knowledge and production experience are accessible to everyone. The aim of the study is to examine the motivation, experience and acquisitions of trainers and participants of craft-based daily do it yourself workshops during the production and design process. In this study, semi-structured in-depth interviews were conducted with workshop instructors and interviews were conducted with workshop participants using questionnaires. As a result, workshop outcomes were analyzed in the context of design education and democratization in design. This work is based on the craft-based daily do it yourself workshops. It is important in terms of being a descriptive study of the current situation of the workshops, which is a prerequisite for making design knowledge accessible to everyone, spreading the production experience and using it as a tool for creating design awareness in society.
