Facade characteristics in accordance with design principles: Şefik Can street example

The form has important effects on people's lives. The architectural spaces that make up the city have a great role in this influence with their facades and formal features. Architecture is a way we communicate with form. For this reason, architecture has its own language and formation process. When the architect or audience tries to recognize architectural elements, they find themselves in a semantic framework, such as those using language. For this reason, the determination of the principles that will provide formal and semantic (subject and object) integrity for the purpose of continuity of a city will prevent the alienation of the settlements to the people and will also lead the traditional and modern façade examples to shop with each other. Looking at the readability of an architectural structure; it is not possible to think separately from the region it was built, from the date, location, material and surrounding structures. In this research, Sefik Can Caddesi, which has become a popular area of Konya as a study area, has been opened to urban transformation. In this study, the facade characteristics of urban facades and modern architecture were analyzed by analyzing the design concepts of the facades selected on the Sefik Can Avenue which is a region that will contribute to Konya's city development. As Şefik Can Caddesi is a new region, it is aimed to analyze the effects of the façades on this street to the city-people and to create a base for the urban transformation studies and new developments. The historical, architectural development and sociological changes of the building in Konya were investigated. In this study, the general characteristics of the facades, single structure evaluations and design principles were evaluated. In the conclusion section, the main ideas obtained with the data obtained as a result of the researches are presented. Some characteristics and survey of the selected facades on Şefik Can Caddesi were examined. Within the scope of the results, forward suggestions were discussed.
