Reading the innovation-innovativeness problems in design through the furniture industry and a solution proposal: Ankara furniture design center

As an activity at the center of the innovation process, design is one of the most effective input sources used by companies and even countries in the competitive environment where they live with each other. Indicators emerging at the end of the innovation process are read over the innovation outputs emerging with the effect of these input sources. The studies conducted so far regarding the impact of design on innovation output have been evaluated based on the financial indicators of companies. Therefore, it is of great importance to investigate the impact of design activity on non-financial innovation outputs. For this purpose, in this study, the effect of design on innovation output has been evaluated through the furniture industry. In this context; A face-to-face survey was applied to 344 small and medium-sized company executives operating in the Ankara Siteler region, the findings regarding the design resources and innovation outputs of the companies were revealed, and the hypotheses developed for the relationship of these findings with each other were tested. The study consists of six parts. In the first part, the definition of the research problem, the purpose and importance of the study are explained. In the second part of the research, the position of design in the innovation process, design resources and concepts for innovation indicators are discussed in the context of the comprehensive literature. In the third chapter, definitions for the design center, support programs and applications for the design center in our country are evaluated. In the fourth and fifth chapters, the field study, method and findings are included in the scope of the research. In the conclusion and recommendations section, a general evaluation has been made regarding the findings and hypotheses obtained within the scope of the research; In the context of these evaluations, a proposal for a regional Design Center for the Ankara Siteler region was presented.
