Abstract (EN)

In this study, although the limited life of logistics airbags is a disadvantage in terms of cost, their use in the transportation sector is increasing.Despite the increasing usage and importance of logistics airbags in the transportation sector, their limited useful life is a disadvantage. In addition, in the literatue review, it was seen that there are almost no studie on dunnage bags. From this point of view, our aim of this study is to produce more durable products with long life and materials such as polyester and polyamide. It is planned to carry out tests that determine the physical properties of the products such as bursting, tearing, breaking, leaking. In this way, different and lower-cost alternatives will arise for these produts, which are constantly being used in logitics. In this thesis, air cushions made of polypropylene and polyester fabrics are produced. Tensile tests are first performed on both types of fabrics, followed by the creation of cushion shapes and subsequent leakage and burst tests. Differences between the two fabrics are analyzed and presented in tables and graphs. The film used inside the air cushions is examined at two thickness levels, 62 and 98 microns, and subjected to tear tests. All air cushions passed the leakage test. The tear test is also performed on the film and passed for both 62 and 98-micron thicknesses. As there is no fabric available with the same parameters for the burst test, cushions made of fabrics with similar parameters to polyester fabrics are tested, and it is determined that polypropylene fabrics are more suitable for air cushions. This study aims to produce durable and resilient products using materials such as polyester and polyamide and to conduct tests to determine their physical properties such as burst, tear, rupture, and leakage. As a result, this study aims to contribute to the development of different and more cost-effective alternatives for the increasing use of these products in logistics, while also addressing the disadvantage of limited lifespan despite the increasing use and importance of support air cushions in the growing logistics sector, which has been observed in the literature review conducted.
