AN EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON THE OPEN IMPELLER PUMPS WITH STRAIGHT BLADES USED IN VEHICLE ENGINES SUMMARY Keywords: Vehicle engine, radial pump, casing, open impeller vanes, backward Curved vanes, straight impeller vanes, closed impeller vanes, clearance Losses. The means in which open impeller radial pumps are usually used are vehicle engines. The vane impeller types of these pumps that are used in the cooling systems are in different structure. For this reason, the deficiency of the pump and system has been tried to prove by testing various types of the cooling water pumps. Especially in the internal fired vehicle engines what type of pumps can be used in which conditions are investigated. In the projecting of the current engines, the effect of the clearance between the body and impeller and the characteristics. In the end of the impeller to the characteristic size of the pumps isn't knows completely at first it will be possible to find out the missing valves and to prove the deficiency by experimental study on the radial pumps. The information on the effect of the radial pumps clearance losses is given and the position of flowing fluid investigated. Before touching the effect of clearance losses, the study on the clearance losses are examined and outlined in the literature searching port. As the impeller is a moving port in the pump, the furees acting upon the impeller are investigated. Various experiments are done on the experimental system that are realized in the laboratories with our own feasibilities. The results gotten from these experiments are discussed. Pumps performances are investigated according to number of vanes and vane height that are very important factors for the selections of radial pumps. At this section experimental studies are performed on the impellers that have 1 1 blades. XIFinally the results of the present work are discussed compared with the presently available references, and the suggestions for the future work on the subject is detailed. xn
