Molecular characterization of antibiotic resistance genes of E.coli and K.pneumoniae strains isolated from chicken meat

Abstract (EN)
The irrational, prophylactic and growth-accelerating use of antibiotics in humans and animals has caused enteric pathogenic bacteria, especially those living as commensals in the intestines, to develop resistance to these antibiotics over time. In recent years, serious resistance has been observed in Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae isolates, which belong to the Enterobacteriaceae family, especially to Beta-lactam, quinolone, colistin and carbapenem group antibiotics. In was against ampicillin (86.8%) for E.coli and against amoxicillin-clavulonic acid and gentamicin (58.4%) for K.pneumoniae. Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamase (ESBL) phenotype was observed in 3 E.coli isolates with the double disk synergy test, and resistance was observed in 4 E.coli isolates with the colistin broth dilution test. While examining quinolone resistance, plasmid-borne quinolone resistance was investigated in 4 K.pneumoniae and 16 E.coli isolates that showed resistance phenotype to more than one quinolone group of antibiotics. In these isolates, the blaTEM gene was observed in ESBL-positive isolates, the mcr-1 gene was observed in colistin-resistant isolates, and the qnrS, qnrD and qnrB genes were observed in quinolone-resistant isolates. It is thought that monitoring antibiotic resistance genes in the field of food at the molecular level will contribute greatly to public health.our study, a total of 38 E.coli and 12 K.pneumoniae were isolated from a total of 100 chicken meat samples, including wing, leg, breast and drumstick meat collected from 25 different sales points.
