Teachers' views on ChatGPT-generated lesson plan in 7th grade English course

This study was carried out to explore the teachers' views on plan generated by ChatGPT, an Artificial Intelligence based chatbot, for A2-level English learners to teach the Wild Animals Unit, in Adıyaman. The participants, twenty English teachers determined through Non-Probablity, Convenient Sampling were asked to provide their comments on the efficacy of this ChatGPT-generated lesson plan. Data was collected through a face-to-face questionnaire using a semi-structured form with fourteen questions. Following the data collection step, content analysis was conducted by transcribing and analyzing the collected data. Then codes and themes were created based on the participants' responses. The findings indicated that most of the participants were optimistic about the ChatGPT-generated lesson plan as it is a well-developed lesson plan capable of enhancing the quality of the teaching process. They stated that lesson plan generated by ChatGPT had the potential to meet the lessons' objectives and students' learning needs. Furthermore, this AI technology was found to be teacher-friendly in terms of reducing workload and creating extra time for teachers, enabling them to use that AI technology in creating their future lesson plans and course content.
