Abstract (EN)

Aim: The objective of this research is to determine research utilization barriers, the perception of facilitators, and the factors affecting the perception of barriers of nurse managers working in University and The Ministry of Health Teaching Hospitals in Tabriz.Method: The study, which has been carried out in descriptive manner, is a sample of five administrator nurses who are executives employed in The Ministry of Health in Tabriz and of 160 administrator nurses (access rate: 76,1%) employed in twelve university hospitals. A questionnaire including demographic and work characteristic of nurses and ?research utilization barriers scale? have been used for data collection. Attitudes of nurse managers related research utilization has been measured by 5-point Likert scale. Descriptive statistics, Kruskall Wallis and Mann Whitney-U test are used in the data analysis.Findings: In this study, executives have perceived the organization barriers as the most important barrier for the usage of results. Among the factors that hinder research utilization the highest score was obtained from ?organization? and the lowest score was obtained from ?research? subscales. The item identified as most hindering barrier perceived by nurses in RU ?physicians will not coopperate with implementation?. The item identified as most important facilitator is ?to have sufficient time to read the researches.? The perception of barriers of the administrator nurses who have not done researches after graduation has been found meaningfully higher in the position of research of the barrier scale (p<0.05).Conclusion: According to the results of the studies, it is revealed that organizational factors priorities in research usage barriers of executive and nurse managers. In order to remove the barriers, developing the institutional culture, making institutional arrangements and doing actions facilitating the use of research are crucial.Key word: Nurse managers, research utilization, barriers of research utilization, facilitators, research attitudes, research activities.
