Abstract (EN)

The water is a basic need for all living creatures in earth. The rapid drop and pollution of water resources due to various reasons is creating a serious problem all over the world. Therefore, new techniques need to be developed to save and reuse the present resources. In this study, techno-economic feasibility study was performed on small scale spiral wound nanofiltration (NF) /reverse osmosis (RO) system in İTOB-OSB Waste-Water Treatment Plant. Performance data obtained by applying different operation modes were used in the calculation. (BW30-2540) reverse osmosis membrane and (NF90-2540 & NF270-2540) nanofiltration membranes were implemented in this study. Results obtained from various experiments undertaken during different seasons to evaluate the temperature effect on total and operating costs. Pressure effect on membrane performance and cost was investigated. Membranes integration and continuous operation impact on produced water amount and cost. The permeate flux of NF90 membrane was found higher than BW30 membrane. Therefore, the total cost of NF90 permeate water is less than that of BW30 membrane. Furthermore, high-quality water was obtained by NF90 and BW30 membranes when product water of these membranes was compared with the quality standards. Increasing the pressure increases the permeate flux and decreases the total cost. In hybrid studies of NF+RO the quality of product water was high but the total cost was high. Permeate flux produced in continuous studies was found higher that of hybrid studies. In continuous studies permeate flux increased after washing and continuously total cost decreased.
