Information systems in supply chain management and a software proposal in leather ready-made clothing sector

At the present day, many enterprises see the importance of inter-enterprise relations in gaining the competitive advantage and start to attach importance to restructuring. Supply Chain Management takes an important part in this structuring process. Supply chain management is an integrate approach relating to control and planning of material flow from suppliers to the end user. Supply Chain Management allows increasing the level and quality of the service in enterprises, rising productivity and speed, enhancing the level of control in material/stock accounts, and meeting the expectations of the customers properly and on time.This research aims at creating a software enabling to manage raw material and auxiliary material store data of leather ready-made enterprise with the support of an integrated data/information system, completing the chain of supplier and customer, and also ensuring the control of stocks. Case study which is one of the descriptive research methods was applied in the research. A medium scaled leather ready-made enterprise registered in Aegean Association of Leather Industrialists in Izmir was chosen as the sample. Unstructured interview form was used in collection of data necessary for store software. Software model was prepared in accordance with the findings obtained by means of the interview form.Visual Studio Net and Access databases were used in preparation of the software. Draft programme was prepared in order to decide on visual design of the software. Programme prepared in the form of a draft was restructured in accordance with the opinions of expert and enterprise executive. Thanks to the prepared software, enterprise will be able to form both supplier and customer information, make entry operation of the materials coming from the supplier and exit operation of the used material, and easily reach the stock data of all the materials. In addition, the enterprise can follow stock movements and stock reports of all the materials, whose entry and exit were controlled, daily monthly and annually.An A enterprise will be able to access stock data more rapidly and properly compared to the current situation via the prepared stock software thanks to the support of information technologies it takes. In this way, a model to make contribution to the rise of productivity by eliminating workforce losses and speed losses emerging in annual stock-taking of the enterprise and waiting periods in forming stock accounts and reaching true information was proposed.Key Words: Supply Chain Management, Stock Software, Leather Ready-Made Sector
