Use of İsra'iliyat in tafsir: Narrations about the creation of women

The narrations of Isra'iliyat, It has been included in the science of Tafsir since the time of the Hz. Prophet and these narrations became widespread in the following periods. However, the issue of whether isra'iliyat can be used as a source is being discussed by the scholars. It is noteworthy that different opinions have emerged regarding the acceptance and rejection of these narrations in the historical process. Our main aim in this study; The purpose of this study is to draw attention to the history of Isra'iliyat and to draw attention to the paradigm shifts in the historical process. In the first part of our study, after giving information about the concept of isrâiliyat, the period before Ibn Kathir is described in terms of isra'iliyat. In this period, it is revealed that the narrations of isra'iliyat were widely used as a means of tafsir activity and the rare criticisms were not systematic. In the second part, which deals with the epistemic break with Ibn Kathir and its aftermath; It has been determined that systematic transfers from the Holy Bible began, some commentators, who were followers of the tradition of narration tafsir, continued to transmit these narrations, and the effects of the break with Ibn Kathir were not seen much in this period. When it comes to the modern period, it has been concluded that these narrations are included in the works for the purpose of criticism and that the transmission of the isra'iliyat narration has left its place to the systematic Bible transmissions. As a result of the study, in the historical process of the commentators' approaches to the narrations, the identities of hadiths, historians, preachers, theologians, jurists, mystics; It has been understood that the sources they receive science and the method of tafsir they follow as a method are decisive.
