Abstract (EN)

In this study, the risks that may arise for employees during the transportation of dangerous goods by rail and how to prevent these risks have been researched. Energy companies which transport dangerous goods by rail have been taken into consideration. Within this scope, interviews were held with the logistics, quality and occupational health and safety specialists of the energy companies. Those companies are located in Marmara, Central Anatolia and Southeastern Anatolia. As a result of the information received from the experts, the responsibilities of all parties have been examined by considering the Regulations Concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail and Regulations Concerning the National Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Rail. In the first chapter, logistics and rail transportation are examined roughly. In the second chapter, transporting dangerous goods by road, sea, and rail is mentioned and the rail section is described deeply. In the third chapter, the possible risks and precautions are explained.
