Özet (EN)

The uniformity of air/fuel mixture in the cylinder influences the engine performance and emissions for diesel engines. Characteristics of in-cylinder flow and injected fuel are very important to provide that the air/fuel mixture can be homogenous as possible as. Therefore, geometries of intake ports and piston bowls, also injector position influence the engine performance and emissions. In this study, for a single cylinder four strokes diesel engine, two different intake port geometries have been compared to see effects of in-cylinder flow characteristics to the engine performance and emissions. In addition, to see effects of piston bowl geometries to the engine performance and emissions, three different piston bowl geometries have been compared by using the intake port data which provide better results. For piston bowl geometries, injector has been placed on different locations to be provided optimum injection. AVL Boost and STAR-CD software's have been used to prepare all one dimensional or three dimensional models and to compare different geometries while this study. Results of this study show good agreement with results in literature and methods of diesel engines development.
