Abstract (EN)
Spesific fuel consumption of a Diesel engine is lower than a gasoline engine for the same dimension.Because of these Diesel engines especially has been preferred for heavy duty vehicles.But particulate emissions and nitrogen oxide emissions are the most important disadvantages of Diesel engines. When temperature of combustion chamber rises beyond 1800 K in internal combustion engines,nitrogen and oxygen of air combine chemically and become a gas called nitrogen oxide which is harmful for human health and environment.Nitrogen oxides combine with humidity in hungs and become nitric and causes breathing illnesses. Diesel engines use excess air for combustion,This increases nitrogen oxide production potential.In this research reduction of nitrogen oxide emissions from Diesel engines were investigated.For this purpose a single cylinder Diesel engine?s exhaust gases recirculated to the engine induction system on determined rates and changes in engine performance and exhaust emissions were traced.
