Abstract (EN)
This study evaluates the liquefaction potential of soils in Ergene 1 Organized Industrial Zone, located in Vakıflar OSB neighborhood of Ergene district, Tekirdağ province. Soil data obtained from standard penetration tests conducted on a total of 49 parcels were used. Liquefaction risk was analyzed for earthquake magnitudes of 6, 7, and 8 using the Prosıvı v2 liquefaction analysis program, as well as methods from Idriss & Boulanger (2014) and the 2018 Turkish Earthquake Building Code, based on maximum horizontal ground acceleration data retrieved from https://tdth.afad.gov.tr. It was predicted that liquefaction would occur if the safety factor (EF) is less than 1.1. The analyses revealed the following, for a magnitude 6 earthquake, using the Idriss & Boulanger (2014) method, parcel 1 in block 233 showed a safety factor ranging from 1.0 to 1.1, indicating liquefaction potential. For a magnitude 7 earthquake, using the Idriss & Boulanger (2014) method, parcel 16 in block 237 had a safety factor of 1, and parcel 1 in block 233 had a safety factor ranging from 0.8 to 0.85, both indicating liquefaction potential. For a magnitude 8 earthquake, using the Idriss & Boulanger (2014) method, parcel 16 in block 237 had safety factors ranging from 0.78 to 1.1, and parcel 1 in block 233 had safety factors ranging from 0.64 to 0.7, indicating liquefaction potential. Using the 2018 Turkish Earthquake Building Code method, only for a magnitude 8 earthquake, parcel 16 in block 237 had safety factors ranging from 0.79 to 1.07, indicating liquefaction potential. Furthermore, groundwater level data obtained from previous soil studies in the investigation area were imported into ArcGIS software. Using Deterministic Inverse Distance Weighting interpolation, liquefaction susceptibility map and groundwater table map of Ergene 1 Organized Industrial Zone were created. It was determined that the liquefaction zone is located in the riverbed area, with groundwater levels around 4.5-5 meters deep.
