The effect of coach's pre-match and halftime speech on professional football players performance (A qualitative study on professional football player views)

The aim of the research is to investigate the effect of coach?s pre-match and halftime speech on professional football players performance according to professional football players views. Phenomenologic method that is one of pattern of qualitative research methods has been used in the research. The research sample consist of 4 professional football players from Super League, 4 professional football players from 1. League, 4 professional football players from 2. League and 4 professional football players from 3. League, totaly 16 professional footbal players from Turkish Professional Leagues that is specified according to criterion sampling of purposeful sampling methods. Semi-structured interview form that is organized in company with specialists has been used to gather data. The interviews have been made at the football clups meeting rooms. The interviews have been recorded with a tape recorder. Besides, it has also taken notes by the researcher at the moment of interviews. Content analysis has been used while analysing data. Interview records have been converted to the written text. Obtained data has been coded, the themes have been found and the findings have been discussed and commented on themes. In the research, the themes that have been found are; trust-belief, responsibility, praise, personal differences, analysis, personal and group speechs, emotional and phsical status of coach, time, experience/career, character of coach, communication/relationship, constructive and destructive speechs.
