Abstract (EN)
Considering technological advancements, the changes that have begun to appear in almost every profession are becoming increasingly evident in journalism, a field deeply intertwined with technology. The expansion of technological capabilities has led to the emergence of new types of journalism, each with its own tools, making it essential for journalism professionals to integrate these developments. In addition to types such as Robot Journalism, Citizen Journalism, and Data Journalism, drones have also found their place in new media due to their importance in providing a new perspective on news. Especially in situations where news involves natural disasters, wars, or other events that endanger human life, drones have become the eyes looking down from above, used to show the scale of the event and provide readers with more information. Just like around the world, news agencies in Türkiye are adapting all other journalism fields to these new technologies. Two major agencies operating in Türkiye, Anadolu Agency and İhlas News Agency, have made significant strides in drone technologies, integrating drone-produced news into their news websites and agency pools. Research findings highlight both the positive and negative aspects of these changes in journalism. On the positive side, drone technology expands news content and brings new perspectives to news reporting. On the negative side, it can distance humans from the news, and ethical issues may arise, allowing the observation of these contrasting impacts in journalism.
