The effect of technostress on employee well being: A research on academic staff

Well-being, the way individuals percept and evaluate their lives, described as the level of being satisfied with their lives. Well-being state gets affected by the outside factors, rapid changes individuals cannot control. As for technology, described as one of the sources of many changes. Recently technology has started take more space than it used to. Specifically in the workplaces these technological changes, inability to orientating innovations, inability to adapt, the environment of complexities and uncertainties in the installation of innovations caused negative results like technostress. Within Conservation of Resources (COR) Theory, it is foreseen that technostress will affect the well-being state of academics negatively. This research was conducted in order to determine the effect of technostress over the well-being state of academics. Sample of the research is formed by academics working in private or public universities via using snowball sampling method. Necessary ethical permissions are obtained for research to be done. The data of the research collected with survey method. The data abtained were analyzed by performing demographic characteristics, reliability analyzes, descriptive statistics, regression analysis and in the SPSS 22.0 program. Normal distribution of data is examined using Skewness and Kurtosis, in the analysis of the data percentage, median, average statistics were used. According to the results of the analysis, it has been identified that technostress has a negative effect on employee well-being.
