Abstract (EN)
Objective: Evaluation of carotid artery intima media thickness and scube1 concentration in patients having recurrent pregnancy loss and not having story of it. Material and Methods: This case control study was performed between July 2012 and December 2012, at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan University School of Medicine. Serum SCUBE1concentrations and CIMT were assessed in 30 women with a history of two or more unexplained first trimester miscarriages (group 1), and 30 healthy pregnant women (group 2) in the first trimester. SCUBE1 and CIMT, adjustedSCUBE1 concentrationsand CIMT were compared between the groups. Statistical analysis was performed using Student's t-test, Mann–Whitney U test, Fisher's Exact test and Pearson correlation analysis. Patient having anatomic heredital endocrine trombophilia defects aren't included in this study. Findings: Average SCUBE1 level (16,44±5,43) in RPL patients is significantly higher compared to the control group patients' SCUBE1 level (10,17±5,19) statistically. (p=0,001). Average CIMT level in RPL women (0,60±0,09) is significantly higher compared to control group's CIMT levels (0,44±0,07) statistically. (p=0,001).There is no difference between the BMI levels in each group. (p>0,05). There is no difference between the age in each group.(p=0,120). Results: Ischemia and endothelial dysfunction is effective in RPL ethiology. Future studies on this topic will shed light to the RPL diagnosis, treatment and management.
