Abstract (EN)
In the present study, powder activated carbon/maghemite composite (MCPA) was used for the removal of Reactive Black 5 (RB5) by adsorption from distilled water and synthetic texile wastewater. The effects of the various parameters such as initial RB5 concentration, pH, and MCPA dosage on the adsorption process were investigated. RB5 removal efficency from distilled water was found to be ∼97% under certain conditions. The adsorption capacity of MKTA for the removal of 100 mg/L RB5 from distilled water and synthetic textile wastewater were found to be 84.7 and 54.55 mg/g, respectively. The Langmuir isotherm predicted a 232.55 mg/g maximum adsorption od MCPA capacity with a moderate R2 value (0.962). The adsorption data was fitted to Freundlich isotherm with R2 0.978. The results of the study showed that the MCPA posses a potential adsorbent for the removal of dyes from textile wastewater.
