Abstract (EN)

In this study, Persulfate and Peroxymonosulfate oxidation methods, which are among the advanced oxidation methods used for the treatment of textile industry wastewater, were used. According to the research, the wastewater used has quite a lot of COD and color content due to the operating and production conditions. Generally found in wastewater, pH, COD, color, suspended solids, ammonia, etc. advanced oxidation methods are preferred to increase the removal efficiency of these pollutants. In the study, COD/PS or COD/PMS ratio and pH value were determined to provide the best organic matter and color removal in the treatment of textile industry wastewater by UV/PS and UV/PMS oxidation. In the treatment of textile wastewater, the change of COD, TOC, UV254, UV280 and color (RES436, RES525 and RES620) concentrations were investigated over time. In the treatment of textile wastewater, UV/PS and UV/PMS oxidation provided close removal to each other as color removal and over 95% color removal could achieved in both processes. Comparing the treatment of organic matter content such as COD and TOC in wastewater treatment, a higher removal rate observed by UV/PS oxidation. With UV/PS oxidation, 86.5% COD, 65.7% TOC removal were achieved at COD/PS: 1/5 and pH 7, while 67.3% COD, 36.9% TOC removal were achieved by UV/PMS oxidation COD/PMS: 1/10 and pH 9. As a result, it was concluded that UV/PS oxidation is better than UV/PMS oxidation in terms of organic matter and color removal in the treatment of textile wastewater.
