Abstract (EN)

Textile materials are almost everywhere in our daily lives. These materials do not only used by people as clothing, but also preferred by them as smart textiles owing to their functional properties. Smart textiles which are used as sensors provides new generation textile materials and they are mainly used in different areas such as sport and health. These sensors monitor body movements and physiological parameters of human. The commercial electronical sensors currently used are pressure sensors, strain sensors, chemical sensors, optical sensors, gas sensors and temperature sensors. Textile based strain sensors senses the strain behavior in a textile material and these sensors were discussed within the scope of this thesis. In this context, the resistance changes of different types of knitted fabric structures, which were produced using steel conductive yarns; with under different elongation values were examined.
