Abstract (EN)

In this study, which is prepared as a master thesis of Environmental Engineering Department, information was given about the source and control of volatile organic compounds (VOC) released from ram chimneys connected to stenter machines used in textile industry. The regions where the textile sector is concentrated are considered to be at risk for the accumulation of volatile organic compounds. In this direction, the Ergene basin, where the textile industry is intense, appears first in terms of air pollution and accumulation of volatile organic compounds. Volatile organic compounds released into the atmosphere are felt by the odor problem they cause. Therefore, the content and composition of the odor is determined by the analysis of volatile organic compounds. In this study, on the basis of odor emission, we investigated the methods that can be used in the control of volatile organic compounds and scrubber filter system combined with pilot scale activated carbon which can provide odor removal. The system installed in an industrial plant with high odor emission was operated with 720 000 m3 / day air cleaning capacity. The odor input concentration was 17 000 KB / m3 and the output odor concentration was 215 KB / m3.
