Abstract (EN)

One of the techniques commonly used in textile surface design is printing. Printing techniques contain many different materials and methods. Mordant printing, which is not yet counted among these techniques, is the subject of this study. The "mordant material" used to fix the natural dye on the textile surface has started to be used as a printing material. It is thought that the mordant printing method, which is thought to have started about 5000 years ago by Indian masters, has been passed down from generation to generation. At the same time, in the last 20 years, when environmentally friendly production gained speed with natural materials and natural methods, mordant printing has started to be applied again. Beste Bonnard is the only person who applies mordant printing in Turkey, this technique has been learned in workshops given by herself. All necessary information was obtained by interviewing her. Seven designs based on traditional motifs have been applied to interior textile products. The designs made as stencil / wood printing are made by laser cutting on bamboo tree. The biggest goal of the mordant printing method, which is also important in terms of sustainability, is to reach more people. In applications on cotton fabric, alum, iron sulphate and copper sulphate mordants are used. Keywords: Mordant, Mordant printing, Textile, Printing, Stencil / wood printing
