Abstract (EN)

Research was done to comprehend the tradition of folk poems written by a Turkmen poet from Telafer as part of this study, which was conducted to contribute to academic studies on Iraqi Turkmen folk literature and notably folk poetry. The poetry of Iraqi Turkmen minstrel Casim Babaolu from Telafer was analyzed in this study by using the samples selected from his poetry. The chosen poetry samples were written in Iraqi Turkmen Turkish and Arabic script. These poems were transcrıbed to Latin letters using the transliteration alphabets that are frequently employed in dialectal studies. The study consists of four chapters. The first chapter provides background information about Iraqi Turkmen and discusses ashik literature. After discussing ashik literature, samples of Iraqi Turkmen minstrels' artifacts are provided, and a brief statement is given about them. In the second chapter, under the title of "minstrel Babaoğlu and traditions of Ashik Literature", firstly, information about the life of minstrel Babaoğlu is given and Casim Babaoğlu' position within ashik traditions of folk poets is explored. The third chapter examines the poet's poems' structural elements, including unit of poems, the number of stanzas, rhyme, pillar and rhyme schemes, poetic forms, and genres. A thorough analysis of "The Subjects Babaolu dealt with in his poems" was made in the fourth chapter. It was deemed appropriate to provide examples from the poems of minstrel Casim Babaoğlu under the heading "analyzed texts".
