School-bases in-service training performed at basic education levels according to the opinions of managers and teachers of in-training activities examining

Administrators and teachers need to participate in school-based in-service training (OTHE) activities in order to increase their professional knowledge and skills on the job, according to their interests, wishes and needs, without moving away from schools. In this research, it is aimed to examine school-based in-service training activities carried out at basic education levels according to the opinions of administrators and teachers. In the study, a case study design was adopted in the context of qualitative research method. A semi-structured interview form was prepared in accordance with the case study design. The study group consisted of a total of 36 educators, including 15 administrators and 21 teachers, who worked at basic education levels in Alaplı district of Zonguldak province in the 2023-2024 academic year and were selected by purposeful (judicial) sampling method. The data obtained as a result of the interviews with the participants were analyzed in detail using the content analysis technique. When we look at the findings of the research; It is seen that educators receive in-service training such as Web 2 tools, first aid, and mind games, usually together, at the same time. It is seen that the courses contribute positively to the personal and professional lives of the education personnel, help them keep up with the information and technology age, and are effective in creating school culture and ensuring efficiency in education. As a result of the research; It is seen that educators are interested in courses that will enable their development in school and social life. It is emphasized that OTHE activities should be planned in line with interests and needs, generally at the beginning and end of the year seminars. It was emphasized that in-service training should be given face to face, the trainer should be an expert in his field, and the training subjects should be determined up to date.
