Measuring the service quality in the basic high schools: iİzmi̇r and Mani̇sa samples

Development of the societies, raising the educated individuals and having an important place among the other countries are only possible with educating the individuals well enough. The purpose of this research is to measure the quality of the education that is provided in the basic high schools, to determine the factors that affect the quality and to advise the sides basing on this institutions. Different from the previously performed researches, the sample was chosen as the students in two basic high schools that are in İzmir and Manisa which were turned from private education institutions into basic high schools (private schools) in accordance with the law which was applied for the first time in 2015-2016 education year. This sample which consists of the students, most of whom transfered from the state schools to there, will provide us to see whether to high schools meet the expectations of the students and there is a service quality difference between two different schools or not. In first part, the service and quality concepts are examined and their features are presented. Besides, scales that are developed in order to measure the service quality are revealed. In second part, the concept of education is examined, the concept of private teaching institutions which form a great sector in Turkey are explained in detail and information about the basic high schools that were turned from the private teaching institutions, is given. In the third part, the thesis research part is included. Hypothesis that are developed in relation to this research, data obtained from the applied queries and the conclusion part take place. In this research, a scale called SERVQUAL was used. In the query, there are also some questions about the demographic features, and it was examined whether these features will affect the service quality or not.
