Basic psychological need the relations with i̇rrational beliefs depression and parental support i̇n children

ABSTRACT BASİC PSYCHOLOGİCAL NEED THE RELATİONS WİTH İRRATİONAL BELİEFS DEPRESSİON AND PARENTAL SUPPORT İN CHİLDREN Fatma TÜRKMEN Master Thesis, Department Of Psychology Advisor: Dr. Murat ARTIRAN July 2018-66 Page In this research basic psychlogicial need, the relationship of depression and parent support were examined in children of irrational beliefs. 9-14 years living in Köşk district of Aydın province consists of 107 girls and 85 men. The aim of the research was to investigate the relationship between depression, basic psychlogicial need and the irrational beliefs developed by the child in this period to supply these basic psychlogicial needs in children and early adolescence. It is believed that basic psychlogicial need and irrational beliefs contribute to the literature because of the lack of research on depression and parental attitudes in children in our country. The data optained in the research were analyzed by using SPSS (Statisticial Package for Social Sciences) 22.0 program. Correlation analysis, regression analysis, F test, t test and normality were conducted between the variables of the research. Parents discovered that these was a weak, negative significant relationship between their total basic psychlogicial need and depression in children and there was a meaningful relationship between the depression and the child in a weak positive way with ADÖB totals. It is thought that basic psychlogicial need of the mother and father and the investigation of psychlogicial problems such as depression that irrational beliefs about these needs may occur in the individuals will contribute to this field workers about mental health.
