Examination of observations related to the instruction of course of basic design and an example cd-rom projection for texture module

In this study, methods/technics used by educators of Basic Design and observations regarding multimedia technologies and present situation related to the instruction of course within this frame are examined. In addition to the study, a presentation material (CD-ROM) with multimedia technologies regarding the unit of ?Texture? of the Basic Design course is prepared.Scope of the study is educators exercising Basic Design in Vocational, Anatolian Vocational and Girls Vocational High Schools in counties; Ankara, Aydın, Bursa, Bartın, Kayseri and universities in counties; Ankara, Eskişehir, Isparta, İzmir, Samsun. For sampling, 50 educators chosen randomly, of which 33 are on the level of secondary education and 17 of higher education, are taken into consideration.In order to examine observations of educators, a questionnaire form is prepared. Gathered findings from datas are shown on frequency charts and crosstabs with chi-square tests.At the end of the study;1) It was seen that those educators on the level of secondary education don?t appriciate the methods/techics except classical practices within course activities; and that those of higher education give more place to these practices in their activities.2) It was seen that in greatest majority of secondary education establishments, there wasn?t any atelier reserved for the Basic Design course, and that in those who have an atelier, there wasn?t enough hardware.3) Absence of hardware shows itself during the instructions of courses. Modern instruments like computer, projection etc. aren?t utilized during presentations and activites, in stead, the course is teached by means of blackboards, book/magazines.4) Educators follow innovations concerning art/design. Hovewer, even though educators teaching on the level of higher education observe and obtain information regarding the instruction of this course or participate in comission works, this ratio is lesser among those of higher education.5) Educators accept that computer and multimedia technologies can create advantages in Basic Design but at the same time educators on the level of secondary education reject to use them during courses because of its disadvantages.6) Throughout the educators both on the level of higher and secondary education, it was determined that there is a need for change in course programs and methods/technics.In the related party of the study, several propositions based on resolutions can be seen.
