Abstract (EN)
Aim: It is aimed to investigate whether morphological changes in the cranial component of the temporomandibular joint are associated with aging and tooth loss. Material and Method: The patients were divided into 4 groups according to their age and edentulous status. In Group 1: 25 patients with Occlusal Support between the ages of 18-35, Group 2: 25 patients with Occlusal Support between the ages of 36-60, Group 3: 25 patients with Occlusal Support over the age of 60, and Group 4: 25 patients over 60 years of age who lost occlusal support. Frankfort horizontal plane and AE slope were drawn on the OPTGs, the angle between was measured and the differences between the groups were examined. Results: No significant relationship was found between age and AE angle. However, a statistically significant difference was observed in Group 4 patients with the other groups. Conclusion: Since there was a significant difference in group 4 patients compared to other groups, it was concluded that AE angle might be related to edentulousness rather than age.
