A research on the journal of Tenkid

Tenkîd is a literary journal published in Istanbul, as 6 numbers, between April and July 1910, under the leadership of Bezmi Nusret Kaygusuz. Important names such as Baha Tevfik, Doctor Abdullah Cevdet, Omer Seyfeddin, Refik Halid, Mehmed Rauf, Sehabeddin Suleyman, Abdulhak Hamid published articles and poems in the journal. In total, more than 70 texts of 41 authors and poets were published. It is remarkable that Tenkîd published on average once every two weeks was published and sold around 5000 (five thousand) copies. But, at a time when İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti was very able the journal published was short-lived. For all that, in many respects, especially in criticism, this journal reflects the spirit, conflicts, style, perspective, problems, life, etc. of an era. Because it hosted discussions on the subjects of style, purpose, rules and principles of literature and art, it is allowed, though limited, some statements of thought on social-political issues. On the other hand, its acceptance as the first criticism journal in Turkish literature gives the journal a importance. With all these motives, journal of Tenkîd, Hediye published in addition to the 5th and 6th issues of the journal and the third issue of the annex that came out in 1912 was taken as a basis for our study. In this study, firstly the texts were translated from Ottoman Turkish to today's Turkish, information about the authors and poets was given and an analytical index was prepared. At the end of the study, it was determined that journal of Tenkîd didn't achieve a significant success, but despite the oppressive period of İttihat ve Terakki Cemiyeti, an effort was made to find solutions to some problems in literatüre, art and social issues.
