Terceme-i Tezkireti'l-Kehhâlîn (introduction, examination, text and index)

Prof. Dr. Şaban DOĞANNovember, 2012, 515 pages.Terceme-i Tezkireti?l-Kehhâlîn is the translation of Tezkiretü?l-Kehhâlîn written by Ali bin Îsâ el-Kehhâl, who is an oculist. The copyist and the copy date of the translation are unknown but it?s highly likely that it belongs to the period after the fifteenth century, considering its language and style properties. The work which is an important source written about eye and eye diseases consists information about various eye diseases and remedial ways. Moreover, the work has a rich vocabulary in terms of plant, animal, and mineral names used in producing medicine.Four copies of the work can be found in libraries, two of which we managed to obtain in our study. İzmir copy, registered with number 439 in Süleymaniye library, is the one our study is based on and Yazma Bağışlar copy, registered with number 439 in the same library, was used for the purposes of support and check.The study consists introduction, examination, text and index chapters. The information related to study is given in the introduction chapter and the subject, significance, aim and method of the study are mentioned in the chapter. The examination chapter involves orthography properties, phonetic information, formal information, syntax and vocabulary. The text chapter is the transposition of the work to the transcription alphabet.
