Retrospective evaluation of neurology patient data theuropatic plasmapheresis treatment applied

As known, therapeutic plasmapheresis exchange (TPE) has been used successfully in thetreatment of several neurological diseases. In our center, TPE has been performed in many cases with internal diseases as well as those with neurological disorders for along time.In this study, we analyzed the patients data who underwent plasmapheresis at DEU Medical Faculty Hospital in the central blood apheresis unit between January 2010-December 2014. A total of 775 seances, 115 episodesand 105 patients data were evaluated.The mean age was 49,8 . 95 patients were being followed in Neurology ward and 11 of those patients were followed in the ICU. In our study, Myasthenia Gravis with 49 patients was the most common indication for plasmapheresis followed by MS with21 patients. Although there is no differences in the rate of coplications developed plasma Exchange performed with different fluid replacments, less hypotension was seen in those exchanges that were performed with FFP , 2 out of 28 patients developed hypotension during plasmapheresis performed with FFP. There was statistically significant difference in the duration of plasma Exchange performed with Comtek device with 92.6 minutes compared with other devices( p<0.001) Therapeutic plasma exchage is a safe method with high clinical response while performed by experts in thetreatment of neurological diseases.
