ABSTRACT The inverse limit and its first derived functor in the category of abelian groups are considered in this thesis. It is proved that inverse limit of abelian groups, each of which is a finite direct sum of quasi-cyclic and bounded groups takes exactly the form A, © Hon\ (Ap, Z (p00)) where A, is complete and reduced, the Ap are torsion-free and the P direct product is taken over the set of prime numbers. Also the value of the derived functor of inverse limit for a countable index set is proved to be exactly cotorsion groups.
