Abstract (EN)
The research, which was conducted to examine the effect of the Flipped Classroom Model (FCM) on the learning outcomes of nursing students on "Infection Control and Prevention" and to evaluate the students' views, was carried out in a quasi-experimental design with a pretest posttest control group. The research was conducted at Ankara Yıldırım Beyazıt University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Nursing, with first-year nursing students and 76 students who agreed to participate in the research in the spring semester of the 2020-2021 academic year. Ethical permission, institutional permission, and informed consent were obtained from the students participating in the research in order to conduct the research. Within the scope of the research, the students were divided into experimental and control groups; The students in the experimental group (n=38) were trained with FCM, and the students in the control group (n=38) were trained with online education. "Descriptive Characteristics Form", "Knowledge Test", "Skill Evaluation Forms" and "Student Opinion Forms" were used to collect data. Number, percentage, mean, standard deviation, Kolmogorov-Smirnov, Shapiro-Wilk, Paired Sample t test, Mann-Whitney U test, Pearson Correlation analysis, Independent Samples t Test, Pearson Chi-Square test, Fisher-Freeman-Halton Exact test, Fisher's Exact test and Intraclass Correlation Coefficient were used. As a result of the research, there was no statistically significant difference between the pre-test knowledge scores of the students in experimental and control groups. It was determined that the post-test knowledge scores, hand washing skills, and the ability to wear and remove sterile gloves of the students who received in experimental group were significantly higher. In the study, it was also determined that the views of the experimental group students on the model were mostly positive. As a result, it has been determined that the online education given with online FCM has a positive effect on the knowledge and skills of nursing students. In this context, it is recommended to expand the use of FCM in online nursing education.
