Abstract (EN)

Facility management initially emerged by focusing on security and cleaning services, and over time, it expanded its areas of expertise and aimed to demonstrate high performance. This development has been shaped by human needs and the intended use of facilities. With the changes in the functions of structures such as residences, public institutions, shopping malls, airports, hospitals, hotels and factories, the scope of facility management has become more complex and expanded. This situation has revealed the need for change in facility management. While organizations aim to increase their efficiency and performance by reducing costs, they have supported these efforts by utilizing information technologies. While information technologies were initially used for cost reduction and performance increase, over time they have also been effective in areas such as controlling energy consumption, systematizing resource use and rapid intervention in case of failure. In this research, facility management companies operating in Türkiye and members of the Turkish Facility Management Association (TRFMA) and the Integrated Facility Management Association (ETYD) were determined as the sample group. As a result of the survey conducted with the selected sample group, the importance of information technologies and their applications in facility management, the advantages they provide, information technologies used in Türkiye, the effectiveness of these technologies and the problems encountered during use were evaluated. Information technologies offer significant advantages in facility management, but it is understood that not every business benefits from these advantages equally. In order for companies to use information technologies more effectively, it is important to strengthen training and support mechanisms, share best practices in the sector and adopt innovative solutions. Facility management companies can accelerate their digital transformation processes and gain competitive advantage. In this context, the integration of information technologies into facility management processes will contribute to achieving important goals such as not only operational efficiency but also environmental sustainability and cost savings. In this context, the use of information technologies in facility management is becoming a strategic necessity.
