Abstract (EN)
Although Turkish women took part in many areas on the front and behind the front lines with men, they were left behind men in the historical narrative. In history, women have been visible as long as they do not contradict the ideologies of men. Tezer Taşkıran, one of the pioneering women of the period; who was born in Azerbaijan in the last years of the Ottoman Empire, came to Istanbul with her family, and personally experienced the transition from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic, was left in the shadow of the people around her as well. Tezer Taşkıran; the second daughter of Ahmet A. Ağaoğlu who made a name for himself in the history of Azerbaijan and Turkey, is not as well known in Turkish society as her sister Süreyya Ağaoğlu, one of our first female lawyers. The reason why Tezer Taşkıran, who was among the firsts in many fields and worked non-stop for her country, is not known to the society like her older sister: she has no memoir recounting her own life, the works written about her life are few in number, and as a result of receiving her husband's surname Taşkıran after marriage, It is assumed that there would be no connection between her and the Ağaoğlu family. In this context, we can see Tezer Taşkıran as one of the women who have disappeared from history as a result of every surname change following marriage. In this study the activities and life of Tezer Taşkıran, forgotten in and effaced from historiography; who was among the first university graduate girls during the process in which Turkish women gained the right to education, who was the author of the first book on logic in Turkey, who was the first female teacher appointed to a boys' school, who was elected over from among men and persisted in the parliament for three consecutive terms, who wrote the textbooks for the education of the society, articles in newspapers, fairy tales for children, who assumed duties such as founding member and chairperson in various associations, who represented her country at international meetings, will be rendered visible in history by telling her life. In the first chapter of the study, the development of Turkish women in the historical process is discussed, in the second chapter Tezer Taşkıran's life is elaborated, in the third chapter her professional life is discussed and in the last chapter some of her works are discussed. The main source of the study is the works written by Tezer Taşkıran, the speeches she made in the Turkish Grand National Assembly, the news published in the newspapers of the period, the works of family members, the Women's Works Library and the Süreyya Ağaoğlu Archive in the Information Center.
